Dr. Paula R Belknap
Dr. Belknap’s roots are very deep in Wilton.
Her family moved to Wilton in 1957 where they have maintained a home ever since. Dr Belknap was actually born in Athens, Greece. Her father’s work lead the family to travel to many far-reaching countries in addition to Greece, including Iraq, Canada, Bangladesh, and Australia. However, she returned to Wilton in time to complete an American High School Education. She was in the first graduating class from the Wilton High School, Class of 1972.
Dr. Belknap furthered her education with her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Saint Lawrence University, her Associates of Applied Science Degree to be a Veterinary Technician from Canton SUNY Agricultural & Technical College, her Masters of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Colorado and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Colorado State University in 1987.
After all those years of schooling, Dr. Belknap practiced Emergency Medicine in New Jersey for three years. She then went into private practice in Creamridge, N. J. until 1997 when she retuned home to Wilton to take care of her ailing father.
In our neighborhood, she practiced in Danbury, New Fairfield, Greenwich and Redding before starting her practice in Wilton as the Cannondale Animal Clinic.
Dr. Belknaps family has been an integral part of the Wilton for two generations. Her father, David Belknap, served on Wilton’s Water Pollution Control Board. Her mother, Nan Belknap worked for Wilton Planning and Zoning for nearly twenty-five years. Nan Belknap was so loved by the town that there is a memorial to her at Town Hall in the employee garden.
Dr.Belknap continues the lineage of her family in Wilton through her daughter, Kaitlyn, who is in currently studying at the University of New Hampshire. Kayti, as she prefers to be called, is also a great animal lover helping to care for their 5 dogs and 6 cats. But Kayti’s great passion is for horses. She has her own horse Sadie and it seems the barn is her second home. Dr. Belknap’s menagerie includes Shamus the Hound, Mj the Pomerainin, Dulci the Collie, and the Camdon County Stray, Whiskers. The cats at the clinic include three ragamufins often called the greeter cats Gato, Willow and Baluga. At home are six more cats.
Needless to say, Dr. Belknap is both a cat and dog person.

Dr. Bhatia is a third generation veterinarian with both her father and late grandfather as veterinarians. Growing up surrounded by animals and observing both her grandfather and father in their veterinary clinics made her realize that her calling was to help animals through veterinary medicine. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in2003 and then completed an internship in Small Animal Medicine & Surgery inNew York City. Following her internship, she practiced veterinary medicine inNew York City for 10 years before moving to San Francisco where she practiced for 3 years. We are happy to welcome her back to the east coast and to Cannondale Animal Clinic.

As well as being our office manager she has taken on the role of dental hygienist. Our practice specializes in non-anesthesia.
